The Ultimate Anti-Inflammatory, Brain Boosting Drink
Today’s blog post is inspired by my recent appearance on BUZZ TV, a local TV station.
I was invited to talk about healing with foods and to share one example of a healing food. As most of us are not getting enough vegetables in our diet, and we are always in a hurry, I decided to share one of my anti-inflammatory blast recipes.
Before you watch the video below, grab the recipe and make it. Let me explain the criteria for an anti-inflammatory meal.
- low glycemic (load and impact)- in plain English, you want to avoid the rapid absorption of sugar (natural or not) from food into the blood stream, to prevent a surge of insulin, as insulin among other things acts as an inflammatory hormone, hence drives silent inflammation.
- provide a good amount of anti-inflammatory essential fats Omega-3.
- supply ample amounts of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds.
- be free of damage processed fats (e.g vegetable oils, trans fats) and any synthetic food coloring, flavoring and preservatives.
In this video, I walk you through the ingredients that make the ultimate anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, brain boosting blast and show you how quick and easy is to make it.
What’s in it?
- 1 cup greens
- 1/2 cup frozen berries
- 1/4 cup hemp seeds (30 g)
- 1 Tbsp olive Oil
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tbsp beet root powder
- S & P-dash
- Juice from 1/2 lemon,🍋
- 1 cup coconut water or spring water
Makes 2 servings.
Note: if you are following a low carbohydrate diet I suggest you use spring water instead of coconut water, that will knock off 9 g of simple sugar, and allow you to enjoy more of this super blast. See Nutrition facts above, for the blast made with coconut water.
Nutrition facts are reflective of the entire amount (2 servings). 9 g net carbs in 1 serving. If you replace coconut water with spring water you’ll have only 4.5 g net carbs per serving.
