hi
5 FREE Mindset & Productivity Apps I Use and Recommend
This is the last part of the 3 part series “Top Apps of 2015 that I Use, Love and Recommend”.
I’ll start with the Mindset/Meditation/Relaxation Apps:
GPS for the Soul. This is a great app for stress management, relaxation and positivity. It uses breathing, meditation exercises, music, and poetry. I really loved this app when it offered the option to measure heart rate variability using the phone camera, this feature is gone since the last upgrade:(. However it is still a good app, to use to stay positive, practice daily meditation and reduce daily stress.
See App description below:
“GPS for the Soul is based on two truths: that we all have within us a centered place of harmony and balance, and that we all veer away from that place again and again.
GPS for the Soul connects you with the things that help you course-correct — from music and poetry, to breathing exercises, to pictures of your loved ones. GPS for the Soul lets you play the guides we have assembled for you, or create your own. GPS for the Soul’s activity feed lets you see how your friends are feeling and what guides resonate with them.”
Headspace you can use on your computer and/or download their app. It’s a simple meditation app, I like the free version that has a series of 10 meditations of 10 min each to get you started on a regular meditation practice. It’s a great tool to use if you’re new to meditation and need a system to help you stick to it.
See App description below:
“Headspace is meditation made simple. Install today to learn meditation and mindfulness in just 10 minutes a day. If you enjoy Take10 and want to learn more, then you can choose to continue and get access to hundreds of hours of original meditations. These include guided and unguided lessons and range from 2 to 60 minutes long.”
Happify, just like Headspace you can use it on the computer or use the app. Click here to see the full site. Excellent app to use to keep your positivity high. It has great assessments to help you measure your happiness, and stress level. Based on your scores, it assigns exercise and games that will help you improve, raise your happiness level, positivity, etc.
See App description below:
“Happiness, emotional fitness and resiliency. Some were born with it. For the rest of us, we created Happify. Happify has turned over a decade’s worth of exciting research on the science of happiness into an everyday app that will literally retrain your brain to banish negative thoughts and create a richer, more fulfilling life.
Developed with leading scientists, our fun and inspiring games and activities will teach you to manage stress and master challenges. That’s why the New York Times described us as “the most sophisticated positive vibes app available now.”
86% of people who use Happify regularly report feeling better about their lives in 2 months!
HAPPINESS ISN’T JUST ONE THING. IT’S EVERYTHING.”
And My Favorite Productivity Apps are…
Pomodoro. I already introduced you to this app on my previous blog, when I talked about fitness apps. It really is a productivity app, which I love using in order to get things done and move my body; break prolonged sitting which is associated with desk work/job. For more on how I use Pomodoro, click here.
See App description:
“Pomodoro Timer helps you boost your productivity using the Pomodoro Technique™, one of the most effective time management methods out there. Not only will you get a fully configurable timer that lets you customize every aspect of the technique, but you will also enjoy a clear and beautiful user interface.”
FollowUpCC. It’s a great app to use to schedule reminders for things you need to get done, and to follow up on emails, especially if you’re running a business.
See App description below:
“Mobile version lets you:
• check the reminders list
• create new reminders
• snooze reminders
• reschedule reminders
• send reminders immediately
• change the email address your reminder is assigned to
• cancel reminders
What’s more you will be always notified at the exact time the reminder is scheduled for.”
FLUX. Not an app, not a productivity app, but a must know about and use (FREE ) software. Why?
Your brain will thank you. Flux automatically adjusts the brightness and blue saturation of your screen as you get closer to bed time making it easier for you to fall asleep. Think of it as a digital sunset. Your eyes will thank you too. Check it out, especially if you spend lots of time in front of the screen (at night).
That’s it, this concludes the 3 part series of my favorite FREE Apps of 2015. I hope you enjoy it, and find it useful. If you missed the other two, click here to go to Part II Food & Nutrition Apps and here for Part II Fitness Apps.
